Comedy In Your Venue

Comedy Club Setup

Comedy can help your venue

Adding comedy to your venue can increase your bottom line. Your current customers will welcome the new entertainment offering and you'll be able to attract a new flock of patrons who will return for more comedy shows and simply to enjoy your venue. Comedy appeals to everyone - students and grandparents and entertains those who may be not be interested in live bands or karaoke.

Offering live comedy increases your venue's publicity as Midwest Comedy Showcase promotes our shows in conjunction with you and your venue. Whether you have a cover charge, a drink minimum or simply open your doors to support comedy, your dry and wet sales will increase - giving you a direct, measurable, positive impact to your bottom line.

We can help you plan a number of different comedy nights including:

  • Open-mic nights - Support your neighborhood and invite local comics to strut their stuff in your venue. Typically open mic nights draw 10-20 comics of varying skill and style. These shows are great for your slow nights as they bring in new comics and their friends and those who just want to have a relaxing night out.
  • Showcases - More seasoned comics in a smaller group (typically 3-6) perform for your crowd. These shows are very popular and allow for a lot of variety. These shows offer a bit more structure than open mic nights and entice your customers by giving them a glimpse of the next big stars in your area and beyond.
  • Traditional Shows -Typically these shows have a host or emcee, a featured comic and a headliner. This combination is the lifeblood of comedy clubs everywhere. Typically these shows run best when covering a Friday/Saturday night and can be used to build up a comedy club focus in your venue, or for an occasional special comedy event.

Any venue can host a comedy show

Midwest Comedy Showcase has worked with many venues. From our experience, here's what your venue needs to have a successful setup for a comedy night:

  • A Room that seats least 40 comedy fans.
  • A Room that has dim light in the crowd areas during the show.
  • A dedicated time for comedy - with no other distractions during the show and for thirty minutes before and after the show.
  • A stage with a spot light or stage flood lights
  • A sound system that will support at least one microphone and allow for music to be played before, after and during a show.
  • The ability to set tables up in seating arraignments starting about seven feet from the stage
  • Willingness to promote the show to your regular customers
